Peer to Peer Networks Dangerous?

March 11, 2009 – 10:38 am

Ok, for years I have advocated that peer to peer networks should never be allowed to be accessed on corporate websites, that all corporations should implement a secure USB Key strategy and fire those who do not abide.  It does not take a genius to figure out that if you screw up your company's network, you will likely - at the very least - not have a job when it is discovered.  There is an easy, brainless way to achieve this.  Seriously, every single individual who uses a computer in the USA needs to do the same!  Internet Security is not someone else's job!  It's your  job, PERSONALLY!  I am ... Web 1.0, 2.0 then 3.0 - Cloud Computing & more…

January 14, 2009 – 5:13 pm

I believe we are at what I like to call "Web 2.5".  The internet is definitely evolving.  So many things have changed so drastically over the last 10 years that we are truly in the "Internet Age". Web 1.0 - the "read" electronic billboard was defined by the evolution of Web 2.0, the read-write version.  What defines Web 2.0 depends on who you ask and what part of technology they work in. If you ask someone in telecommunications, who deals with high speed data (ie: DSL, Cable, Wi-Fi, WiMax, 3G, etc) they will tell you that Web 1.0 was "dial up" - ... Click Here to Read More...

Wi-Fi HotSpots are Hot Again! AT&T Buys Wayport for $275M

November 9, 2008 – 11:09 am

When cash gets crunched, Wi-Fi becomes a viable commodity again....and AT&T is smarter than the average bear (where bear = Sprint, Verizon, etc).   Why NOT buy an EXISTING provider in a market you intend to build a larger footprint in (BECAUSE) it exists and you can make money NOW).  Besides, think of all the business customers you own now (via their Wi-Fi networks....like McDonalds, Marriott Vacation Clubs, Four Seasons....) Good job AT&T, you remain what and who you have been for years - a company who knows money when it sees it!  When you play the game of Monopoly, you always win ... Click Here to Read More...

GSS Claims WiFi WPA Now Insecure

October 12, 2008 – 9:27 am

Here is the latest on why WEP, WPA and WPA2 encryption standards are NOT the way to secure your business or personal use of Wi-Fi.  Scary, it's not just about internet hackers, worms, trojan horses or other ugly attempts....now it can be done by modding a video card!  Saw it coming - contact me about using a secure USB "thumbdrive" that has govt level (FIPS 140-2) security, storage of 1-8GB, password security, and stealth web browsing starting at $80!  Read on for the story....  WORTHING, U.K. -- Global Secure Systems, the value-added IT security consultancy, says that a Russian's firm's use of ... SE United States: 1 down, 3 to go….welcome to Hurricane Season!

September 4, 2008 – 12:06 pm

Well, last year was just too peaceful, I admit, we became somewhat complacent.  Nothing like a "Gustav" to put you back on your toes!  Three (3) years almost to the very day, Gustav churns toward NOLA.  Most of the time it was a feeling of disbelief.  We were ready for the worst, and waiting was the worst part so I spent my hours praying as hard as I could that it would become weaker, that NOLA and the rest of the area would be spared as much of the devistation as Katrina had spawned.  When it finally hit, the levees held, it ... NEW ORLEANS -- Sprint (NYSE:S) today said it is preparing for the potential impact of Hurricane Gustav threatening to make landfall along the Southeast Gulf Coast on Monday. Going Green….it starts at the top!

August 23, 2008 – 11:05 am

The U.S. Government is strongly suggesting that we all conserve and reduce our gasoline useage as much as possible, both to reduce greenhouse emissions and our reliance on foreign oil.  I applaud that effort by each individual, but I think that leadership starts at the top. Now it has!  U.S. House Majority Leader (Hoyer) is putting our money where his mouth is!  He is suggesting a 4 day work week for the US Federal Government.  Considering how many Federal Employees there are in the U.S., that would be a HUGE conservation move and one which will have little consequences.  Let' hope he is able to push ...
